Rolf's Training RP: Heritage Arc Post Episode 12

It had been over a week now and Rolf had still seen no sight of King Kai’s planet. In fact one week and four days had passes and still nothing. Constant use of the kaioken times three was able to speed him towards his destination much faster. However, he was only able to maintain it for an hour at most before he would collapse due to exhaustion. Rolf, in his normal state, was jumping from path to path. As he landed, his foot slipped and Rolf fell over the ledge but was able to grasp onto Snake Way’s platform. Rolf looked down and was able to catch a glimpse of hell. A chill went down the son of a Shepard’s spine; never again would he make a careless mistake like that.

“Praise Rolf’s ancestors for their protection of him.”

Rolf pulled himself up and quickly continued on his journey. After a few hours of traveling, Rolf decided to rest and would continue when he woke up.

TWO DAYS LATER:

Rolf was beginning to go mad from the constant sight of an endless road. He had only one day left to reach King Kai’s, otherwise he would fail in his task. He had been using the kaioken times four for a while now, yet he felt like he was getting nowhere. His body eventually gave out from exhaustion and the son of a Shepard collapsed in a heap. Rolf slowly opened his eyes before pulling his face off of the floor; he felt like he had been asleep for a few hours.

“How long has Rolf been snoozing?” Said Rolf as he checked his watch, and saw that he had been, in fact, asleep for one day. Rolf cursed in his native tongue before entering a trance of extreme anxiety.

“Son of a Shepard! Do you think this is party time for 1999?!”

Rolf snapped out of his insanity and looked to see a person in front of him. The person was tall, tan, muscularly built, dressed in old robes, and had a face of thick facial hair. He even carried a wooden staff. Rolf nearly had a heart attack when he saw the man in front of him.

“Great, Great, Great Nano Yonick?! The mightiest Shepard Rolf’s family has ever known!” Rolf knelt before his great, great, great grandfather, a Shepard whose might greatly surpassed that of Rolf’s father.

“Rolf, do not laze around! You must continue your journey; use your true power and accomplish your task.”

“Yes Nano Yonick. Rolf shall bring honor to your name!” Rolf hugged his great, great, great grandfather before he activated the kaioken times four and sped off for King Kai’s once again.

Rolf was motivated more than ever to reach his destination now that his greatest ancestor had given him words of encouragement. Meeting his long dead Nano was truly the highlight of Rolf’s journey so far, and he’d make sure he told his family about it at dinner time. Seven hours passed and Rolf was wearing down greatly. He had still seen no sign of Snake Way’s end, but he did notice that the road was getting much narrower. This brought a smile to Rolf’s face. He powered up and continued his run across Snake Way. After a few minutes Rolf was forced to screech to a halt since the road abruptly ended without warning. Realizing he had reached Snake Way’s end Rolf leapt high in the air due to extreme joy of finally reaching the end. However, he didn’t fall back down and was instead floating upwards. Not knowing what was going on, Rolf looked up to see an extremely small planet with a house, car, tree, and driveway on it. Rolf finally understood that the planet he was seeing was King Kai’s world. However, he couldn’t understand why he was moving very fast towards the planet. Rolf had no control, he felt like his body was drawn to the planet, and eventually he collided with the small world at a high velocity. Rolf struggled greatly to pull his face from the grass. It was unreal, he felt like his body weighed a ton. As Rolf was struggling to get up, a monkey, a cricket, and a short blue humanoid with antennas stepped out of the house and looked confusingly at Rolf.

“Hey Yamcha! The kid you were telling me about is here.” The blue humanoid said.

Yamcha stepped out from the house and quickly took notice of Rolf, who had his face in the grass. Yamcha fought back a laugh and quickly went over to Rolf.

“Hey Rolf you made it! Two weeks and three hours, great time!”

“The son of a Shepard appreciates your kind words.” Said Rolf in an extremely strained and muffled voice.

“Ahem!”

Rolf was able to turn his head and look at the blue humanoid.

“I am King Kai and you must be Rolf correct?”

“I am Rolf the son of a Shepard. Ancient one! Rolf beseeches you! Rolf requires your training so that he may save the earth.”

King Kai smiled at Rolf’s politeness and respect. Not even Goku was this humble.

“How about we grab a bite to eat? I’m sure you’re hungry and tired. We’ll begin your training in the morning.”

With that said King Kai walked into his house with Yamcha, the monkey, and the cricket following close behind. Rolf exerted all of his strength and forced himself up and slowly made his way towards the house.

“A curse has been placed upon Rolf!”

Rolf was devouring everything edible that had been placed on the table. Two weeks without eating and drinking anything had taken its toll on Rolf’s body, but luckily he was a saiyan and could go much longer than humans without drinking or eating anything. King Kai, Yamcha, the monkey, and the cricket stared in horror at the sight before them. The last time they ever saw someone eat like this was when Goku last visited. Rolf finished an entire buffet of meats, vegetables, fruits, and a dessert or two. He even chugged an entire tank of water! Rolf let out a large belch which practically blew the others away.

“Excuse the son of a Shepard for his rudeness.”

“It’s fine! Let’s just get started with this training!” Yelled a disturbed King Kai as he made his way outside with the others in pursuit.

Rolf struggled to keep his posture correct but he couldn’t because he felt like he weighed a ton.

“Ancient ones! Tell Rolf why he can hardly move.”

“Well Rolf the gravity here on King Kai’s planet is ten times that of earth. You still haven’t gotten used to it but don’t worry. This higher gravity will help you get stronger than ever before.”

Rolf remembered his Physics tutoring with Double D. He explained the law of gravity to him, which he vaguely remembered, and taught him how gravity is what kept them on the ground and what gives something its weight. Here the gravity was ten times that of earth’s and he was using all of his strength to keep himself from eating dirt again.

“Alright Rolf you first test will be…” Rolf listened with great interest. He was prepared to face any challenge and overcome it. “…to make me laugh.”

An animated sweat drop appeared behind Rolf’s head. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

“You taunt Rolf’s eggplants?!”

“No. If you want me to train you you’ll have to make me laugh. Come on and crack a joke.”

“Why must Rolf subject himself to the ancient art of comedy?!”

“Because a true warrior should always know when to ease the pressure off things with a good sense of humor. But I warn you Rolf, I’m the master of comedy and I’ve heard them all. I won’t laugh too easy.”

Rolf was in great thought. He wasn’t sure how to make King Kai laugh; he continued until he remembered an event he and Kevin performed to the kids of the cul-de-sac. Rolf pulled his shirt over his head and began waddling around.

“I am the hairless otter and I must eat chickens!”

Yamcha, King Kai, the monkey, and the cricket watched the performance for a minute or two before they broke out laughing together.

“Hahahaha! That was pretty good Rolf. You’ve earned your training with us!” Said King Kai. Rolf smiled as he pulled his shirt back down. “You’re second test will be to catch Bubbles here.” King Kai pointed to the monkey beside him. “As soon as you catch him you’ll advance to the third and final test. Oh and make sure you don’t use the kaioken for these are tests of your body’s normal limits.”

“This shall be an easy demonstration of Rolf’s talents!”

Rolf didn’t even make a move when Bubbles shot off in a run. Rolf was shocked; he had no idea that the monkey was this fast. Knowing he didn’t stand a chance against the monkey’s speed , Rolf removed his weighted armor. The armor crashed to the ground, leaving a noticeable dent in the grass. Rolf felt a huge relief on his body. He still felt heavy and slow but not as much as when he had the armor on.

“I had no idea that outfit of his was weighted.”

Yamcha smirked when he heard King Kai’s statement. Rolf was able to now somewhat jog after Bubbles but the monkey was too fast.

“This won’t be as simple as Rolf had thought.” Said the son of a Shepard mentally.

Two hours had passed and Rolf was drenched in sweat. The strain of the gravity was doing a good job of getting him exhausted. However, Rolf felt like the gravity had less of an effect on him. Rolf dove, in hopes of catching Bubbles, but the monkey sidestepped to the right. Rolf cursed under his breath before charging again. As Rolf continued to try and catch Bubbles, an idea came to him. Rolf used the split form technique he had learned from the Eds’ friends. Rolf had his clone continue to chase Bubbles while he ran the opposite way. Bubbles found no trouble in outrunning Rolf but as he looked ahead he saw another Rolf running towards him. Bubbles tried to bank to the right but he saw another Rolf there too. Bubbles screeched to a halt as he tried to go the other way but as before there was another Rolf too. The four Rolf’s jumped on top of Bubbles in a dog pile. The real Rolf emerged just as his clones disappeared and held bubbles up to show King Kai and Yamcha. The two were very impressed.

“Impressive! It only took you two hours to catch Bubbles.” King Kai and Yamcha shared a grin. “Now your third and final test will be to hit Gregory here with this mallet.” King Kai pointed to the cricket and materialized a large mallet before throwing it to Rolf.

Rolf caught the mallet but soon found himself bent over. The mallet weighed what felt like a few thousand pounds. It might have been the higher gravity talking but still. It was insanely heavy. Gregory started flying to and fro with Rolf looking on with an animated sweat drop falling at the back of his head.

ONE DAY LATER!

Rolf had collapsed due to exhaustion. Gregory was far more difficult than Bubbles, mainly because he could fly with no problems. Every time Rolf tried to fly he was pulled back down to the planet. He had to do something and fast. He needed every second to train before he would be sent back to earth.

“Come on Rolf is that all you’ve got?! Maybe you can’t handle it?!”

Rolf was growing frustrated by Gregory’s constant taunts. Rolf got back up and ran full speed at the cricket but Gregory was too fast for him. Rolf slammed the mallet down repeatedly but couldn’t hit the speedy cricket. Rolf tried using the split form technique but since Gregory had already seen it, it didn’t work. As Rolf was chasing Gregory, he came up with an idea. Remembering that the planet was very small, Rolf threw the mallet towards Gregory before quickly running the other way. Gregory dodged the mallet before continuing another lap around the planet. As Rolf was running the other way, he saw the mallet coming towards him before he caught it and spotted Gregory heading his way. Gregory saw Rolf’s trick to late and was smacked whap dab right on the head. Gregory hit the floor with stars floating over him as Rolf collapsed as well due to exhaustion.

“So what do you think King Kai?”

“You were right about this kid Yamcha. These two weeks are going to be very interesting.”
